SERVICOM BOSS CALL FOR MORE COMMITMENTS FROM MDA’S FOR SUSTAIND SERVICE DELIVERY IN NIGERIA

The National coordinator/CEO SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli has called on CEO’s to be more committed to render citizen’s centred and innovative service delivery service wide.

This call was made over the weekend when the National Coordinator inaugurated the SERVICOM CHARTER of the Federal Medical Centre Jabi.

She stated that the inauguration of the charter would mark a critical step in sustaining the Service Delivery Initiative in FMC, Jabi and that the Management should make quality efforts towards entrenching the culture of continuous improvement in delivering quality and timely services to Nigerians.

However, Mrs Akajemeli further highlighted that SERVICOM’s focus is on the quality of contact between service providers and service takers, adding that the primary purpose of Government in the Federal Medical Centre is to improve the quality healthcare services for its citizens through the provision of quality stewardship and healthcare facilities for the Nigerian citizenry.

Mrs Akajemeli added that the SERVICOM unit is the Government’s solution and answer to poor public service delivery nationwide and that it is pertinent that citizens are more aware of their rights and have higher expectations in Service Delivery processes.

She further urged all the staff of FMC Jabi to embrace teamwork, and leverage on cutting edge technology to enhance research, training and innovation in healthcare provision.

In addition, the coordinator stated that the SERVICOM UNIT should focus on collaboration amongst internal departments towards ensuring more citizen-focused service delivery across the country.

In his welcome address the Chief Medical Director professor Saad Aliyu Ahmed said that the Federal Medical Center Jabi is known for her excellence and hard work in delivering services to patients and that the inauguration is coming at a time when the hospital needs more efficiency and effectiveness in  improving and enhancing quality service delivery across board.

He further stated that the hospital needs SERVICOM‘s inputs in getting things done in order to get the hospital to its peak of rendering quality and efficient services as at when due.

In his goodwill message the Board Chairman Dr. Alex Tosan Ideh commended the SERVICOM team and called on them to establish SERVICOM at the sub national level in order to save lives of indigent Nigerians who do not have access to quality healthcare services at the grass roots level.

He pledged management’s commitment to embrace the culture of service excellence, by rendering quality and efficient services in all the service departments of the hospital.

 

SERVICOM CALLS FOR STRONGER SYNERGY WITH MDA’S FOR IMPROVED SERVICE DELIVERY

The National coordinator/CEO SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, has called for a stronger synergy with Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for improved service delivery processes in line with its mandate.

This call was made when Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli paid an advocacy visit to the Chief Executive officer, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) in Abuja during the weekend.

The National Coordinator, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli said that, the SERVICOM Unit is charged up with the responsibility to raise citizen’s awareness and to deliver quality services to the Nigerian citizens.

In her words she said, ‘’Taking ownership of the process is key to sustaining the SERVICE delivery drive of this administration’’ she noted.

 

She however called for the support of the Authority Chief Executive officer of the NMDPRA to carry out independent survey on customer’s experience to collate feedback for service improvements in the agency.

Nevertheless, the Coordinator added that Management should further provide the SERVICOM Unit with the needed support and resources for service improvement work plan implementation by developing Service Charter in order to capture services of the new merger.

She further explained that the Charter is a strategic document that communicates the commitments of services provided by NMDPRA to its customers and MDA’s operational tool that enshrines trust between Service-providers and Service-takers through their response to complaints and information to key stakeholders.

Furthermore, she urged the management of NMDPRA to strengthen the position of the SERVICOM Unit so as to regulate and monitor midstream and downstream operations all over the country.

She also pointed out that a framework for performance monitoring, self-assessments and surveys should be put in place to identify gaps for service improvements, adding that the SERVICOM Unit would be repositioned to function optimally there by ensuring that all citizens are served right.

In his welcome address, the Authority Chief Executive Officer Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Mr Farouk Ahmed informed the National Coordinator that the business of the Agency cuts across all sectors in their retail outlets and they are sensitive in the manner in which they conduct businesses.

He further informed the National Coordinator that the Agency will harmonize their Service Charter into one, given the fact that the three Agencies where merged to become one, hence they need to change their impression and psyche in other for them to work as a team.

He further gave his commitment to work with the SERVICOM so as to bring ideas in the areas of improvements that would bring sustainable development and economic growth to the nation.

SERVICOM EXTENDS LOVE TO THE VULERABLE

The National Coordinator/CEO SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli and her Management team have extended love to the vulnerable groups in Nigeria. This gesture was extended when the Coordinator visited the Kuje Correctional Centre and the ANAWIM Home for the poorest of the Poor Rehabilitation Centre at Gwagwalada over the weekend as part of her end of the year activities.

In her remarks, the National Coordinator stated that the visit is precipitated as part of SERVICOM’s corporate social responsibilities to the vulnerable groups and to encourage the inmates to keep faith alive while assuring them that they can become better citizens of Nigeria after now.

 According to her SERVICOM is celebrating and acknowledging in a special way the officers who go extra mile while putting their lives on the line to render efficient and excellent services to the inmates.

However, she further encouraged the officers and the care givers at the orphanage home to keep on the good work also keep the flag flying as they make positive improvement that touches the lives of Nigeria citizens.

Akajemelie reiterated that the Federal Government of Nigeria would be remembered for the number of lives touched through delightsome services rendered through the various service windows across the nation

She assured Nigerians of SERVICOM’s commitments in ensuring citizens centred service delivery while entrenching customers’ satisfaction at all levels.

In their response, the management of the correctional centre and the ANAWIM’s rehabilitation centre commended the SERVICOM presidency for their kind gesture towards the inmates and the children during the Yuletide season.

SERVICOM CALLS FOR SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS IN UNITY SCHOOLS

The National Coordinator SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli has called on the Ministry of Education to improve service standards in Unity Schools across Nigeria.

This call was made when the National Coordinator made a presentation of the SERVICOM Compliance Reports (SCE) to the Honourable Minister of State, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba in the Ministry’s Headquarters.

Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli while presenting the reports said the exercise was carried out by professional evaluators across 34 Unity schools across the country and the reports showcased strengths and weaknesses.

The highest scores went to Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Owerri that scored 52:5 % while the lowest score of 40% went to Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Enugu.

Scores of the evaluated service windows were analysed using SERVICOM’s five drivers which are Service Delivery, Timeliness, Information, Professionalism and Staff Attitude.

The National Coordinator said the performance of each driver at the evaluated service windows indicates that the schools are doing relatively well in terms of timeliness and information gathering but lagging in the area of staff attitude and professionalism.

There are no customers satisfaction surveys carried out to test and determine the level of customer’s satisfaction with the service delivered in order to ensure that services are meeting student’s needs.

Part of the weaknesses observed during the evaluation exercise composed of lack of perimeter fences around the school premises, pot holes in the hostels, leaking roofs, old dining chairs and tables, poor and deplorable toilet facilities.

SERVICOM, therefore, made some recommendations as quick fixes for improvements and they include: provision of standard accommodation for staff, adequate toilets which should be kept clean at all times.

In addition, the medium term improvements plan she said includes: training and re-training of staff as at and when due to sharpen their skills, knowledge and attitude for the provision of satisfactory services to customers.

Customer satisfaction surveys should be conducted regularly to determine the level of customer satisfaction and increase service improvements based on the results obtained.

For their long term improvements, SERVICOM recommended good lecture halls, staff quarters, decent hostels and toilet facilities should be constructed and libraries should be upgraded to modern libraries and should be well equipped.

Mrs Akajemeli stated that the ultimate purpose of any legitimate governance is to serve the people well. Adding that SERVICOM is working assiduously towards improvements through connectedness and the quality of services rendered to the Nigerian citizens.

She further stated that SERVICOM is looking forward to visible improvements and consistent value-addition in nation building.

She advised the Unity Schools to seek for active network that will facilitate excellent, timely, fair, transparent and accountable service delivery in the sector.

In his welcome remarks, the Honourable Minister of State, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, stated that the SERVICOM Compliance Evaluation reports came at a time when the Federal Government is laying emphasis on quality service delivery in the education sector across the Nigeria.

According to him, the reports will serve as a wake-up call to all the Stakeholders in the education sector and will also help the Ministry to partner with SERVICOM to chart a course for quality service delivery processes in Nigeria.

SERVICOM SEEKS STRONGER NETWORKING IN THE NIGERIA POLICE FORCE.

The National Coordinator SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, has called for stronger networking in the Nigeria Police Force that would be more functional for service improvements in the Force.

This call was made during the week when the Coordinator paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police Alkali Bala Usman in his office in Abuja.

Mrs Akajemeli while presenting her keynote address called on the IGP to revive the Ministerial SEVICOM Unit (MSU) to better meet customers’ perception in the services rendered to align with the purpose for which the Service Delivery Initiative was adopted for all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of Government.

According to the National Coordinator when the Force have a functional Ministerial SERVICOM Units it will eliminate bottlenecks in the system, while the internal customers properly positioned to deal with the external customers that would empower staff of the Unit to function optimally as guidance and Counselling resource persons, foot soldiers and eyes of Management in all aspects of customer service.

She advised the force to review the service charter in line with SERVICOM and the principles of good customer care that is well published, accessible, transparent and simple to use system for dealing with complaints.

She further implored the IGP to take ownership of the SERVICOM initiative and provide the Unit with the necessary support needed as well as resources for the implementation of its service delivery processes.

This she said would assist the Police Force in the implementation, monitoring and reporting of standards as contained in the service charter.

She advised the Force to have a stronger partnership with the SERVICOM Office that  would have closer engagements with SERVICOM Presidency to reposition  the Force to deal with its external customers.

The Coordinator reiterated the fact that SERVICOM Presidency is working assiduously to ensure that the Nigerian Police Force runs an active SERVICOM Unit, where there would be a structured networking framework between the SERVICOM Office.

She stated that the Force need a medium and long term improvements in training and retraining of its work force that would enhance skills, knowledge and attitude for the provision of satisfactory services to the customers.

For the long term improvement, she called  for an urgent need for key stakeholders to discuss the way forward concerning security issues in the country that would ensure safety of lives and properties.

SERVICOM She said is seeking to establish strong partnerships and bonding between the Police and is public through engagements, enlightenment, and informing the public on  their radio station  for service delivery related matters and policing activities at the grassroots level  that would enhance community Policing and networking she added.

SERVICOM, office she said believes that with these collaborative efforts the Nigerian Police Force would become critical partners in actualizing continuous improvements on the quality of services delivered to the citizens.

Welcoming the Coordinator the Inspector General of PoliceUsman Alkali Baba, commended the National Coordinator on her efforts to reposition SERVICOM Units service wide, especially in the Force.

This he said would help departments to check excesses and ensure that the right things are done.

A reward will serve as a motivation, while punishments will serve as a deterrent.

He informed the Coordinator that henceforth , from directorate to the zonal levels everyone have been directed to create a SERVICOM Unit to put measures and yardsticks  on how they are discharging services which will bring collaborations, and synergy , feedback, guidance and counselling are all part of what we supposed to be.

The IGP stated that every component in the service delivery process is important to ensure the welfare and security of its citizens. Promising to support and engage with the SERVICOM Office to make Nigeria a safe society to live.

SERVICOM CALLS FOR MORE COLLABORATION WITH EFCC

The National Coordinator SERVICOM Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli has called for more strategic collaborations with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to enhance and improve standards of Services in the commission.

This call was made when the National Coordinator/CEO SERVICOM paid an advocacy visit to the commissions headquarter in Abuja today, over the weekend.

Mrs Akajemeli stated that SERVICOM’s purpose for the visit is to look at the three key areas of services in the commission which are Investigation Service, prevention Service, Legal and Prosecution Service that are citizen’s focused and would match up with the expectations and needs of the people.

According to the Coordinator, beyond these standards, expectations are a key to quality service delivery of a Nation. She advised the Chairman to set up an anti – corruption crusade at the secondary schools to render preventive services in the mere future

She called on the EFCC boss to strategically position himself to stamp out corruption in the system and to streamline his service Charter to measureable standards that can be more accessible to the public.

With this, she said we can meet and exceed services, when this is achieved we can sustain synergy and service improvements in line with SERVICOM’s mandate through staff capacity building.

She advised the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) boss to develop a frame work that would improve standards of service delivery in the commission.

This collaboration she said, would add more value to the Nation.

In his welcome remarks the Chairman Economic financial crimes commission (EFCC) Abdulrasheed Bawa stated that the commission has a Standards Operating Procedures (SOP’s) that they are digitalizing the process of forensic investigators in the commission.

He further stated that, Nigerians have to follow the system of digitalization of our process and procedures, so as to enable the commission to reduce high level of crime rates to the barest minimum.

He further stated that, the commission is working assiduously to ensure that services rendered are per with international best practices.

SERVICOM LAUDS THE NIGERIAN IMMIGRATION SERVICE (NIS) FOR EXCELLENT SERVICE DELIVERY

The National Coordinator/CEO SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli has commended excellent service delivery in the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).

This commendation was made recently at the commissioning of the resuscitated NIS contact (call) Centre and Chat Room at the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Headquarters during the week.

Mrs Akajemeli further explained that, the effort of the Nigerian Immigration Service in restoring the Contact Centre and Chat room is highly commendable, and would bring about beneficial changes and likewise produce excellent service delivery.

She however highlighted that, the platform is exclusively initiated for connectedness by having people chat with NIS real time to create receptiveness to new ideas different from the familiar conventional way of operation and also for accountability purposes.

While commending the efforts of the Nigerian Immigration Service for extending the Contact (call) Centre to the States and Zonal levels, the National coordinator stated that the idea would give the SERVICOM office greater opportunities of taking services to the public.

In his welcome address, the comptroller General of Immigration Muhammad Babandede MFR Informed the National Coordinator that the Nigerian Immigration Service has come up with ideas to improve its service delivery process to Nigerians.

‘’we have made provision to a chat line for Nigerians to relate from any destination around the world’’ he said.

The Service he added have also put in place a payment platform, where forms are filled and completed for payments on line, furthermore he added that the service have also made provisions to have appointment systems in order to reduce stress for Nigerians.

Mr Babandede warned Nigerians not to patronize fake recruitments agents stating that the Nigerian Immigration Service recruitments would cut across the 774 Local Government Area Councils in the country, which will be done in a transparent and efficient manner.

President Buhari Approves Re-Appointment of Servicom National Coordinator

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the re-appointment of Nnenna Akajemeli as National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SERVICOM for a second term of four years with effect from April 10, 2021.

The Permanent Secretary, State House, Mr Tijjani Umar, disclosed this at the presentation of the Revised State House Service Delivery Charter on Friday in Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary congratulated the National Coordinator on her well-deserved re-appointment, saying, ‘‘she is a very hardworking person and who I have worked very closely with and she is very passionate in everything she does.’’

He also used the occasion of the presentation of the revised Service Charter to encourage public servants to put service delivery first and ‘‘not to be in a hurry to acquire material benefits.’’

‘‘For people who are in a hurry to make money, the public service is not about making money.

‘‘I usually advise colleagues, particularly the younger generation, not to be in a hurry for anything but to work hard and the reward will meet you where you are,’’ he said.

On State House Clinic, the Permanent Secretary told the meeting that the Clinic has become fully self-sufficient, commending medical workers for the visibly improved service delivery.

‘‘The new Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) wing has been completed and fully functional. State House Clinic was designated as a vaccination centre for COVID-19 and we have finalised arrangements for the Clinic to serve as a testing centre for COVID-19.

‘‘As a result of the pandemic, we built a Special Care Centre within 10 weeks and we also have a fully kitted functional Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on wheels and procured new vehicles.

‘‘We have also streamlined the process of the procurement and distribution of drugs to ensure accountability, and have deployed the use of ICT to improve our services in the Clinic.

‘‘Our Clinic may not be perfect but we are on the path to perfection,’’ he said.

In her remarks, the National Coordinator of SERVICOM described her reappointment as a call to do more in terms of improving service delivery in Nigeria.

‘‘We are working towards getting an Act to further drive and institutionalise service improvement in the country and we are also working towards a functional new national policy on SERVICOM to enhance trust and connectedness between the government and the citizenry,’’ she said.

Working with the Open Government Partnership (OGP), Akajemeli hinted that SERVICOM had plans to expand its frontiers to the States and local governments to improve the essence of governance.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CALLS FOR SYNERGY WITH MDA’s IN THE OPEN GOVERNMENT PARTNERSHIP INITIATIVES

The Federal Government of Nigeria has called for synergy in the MDA’s who are part of the c Open Government Partnership Initiatives (OGP) to be more accountable in their drive towards improvement in service delivery process in Nigeria.

This call was made when the National Coordinator/CEO SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli paid an advocacy visit to the Director General of National Agricultural Seed Council to roll out the next phase of the OGP initiatives in his office within the week.

The National Coordinator said that the OGP presents a platform for co-creation, partnership and collaboration between governments (State Actors), Civil Society Organizations and also the Private Sector (Non State Actors) in achieving its’ developmental process

However she also stressed that, the fundamental objective of Mr President signing into the OGP commitments is to ensure full implementation of the process to fight corruption and ensure accountability, transparency, as well as improved service delivery to Nigerians.

According to her, this falls squarely within the SERVICOM mandate, consequently making the improved service delivery thematic area of commitment 15 and 16 to be included in NAP II with SERVICOM as the lead agency with an implementation period of 2 years, which is 2019 to 2022 respectively

Akajemeli further pointed out some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that would showcase the pilot phase of the OGP initiatives for the improved Service Delivery in the 7th thematic area which the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) where included.

Nevertheless, she also called for the role of SERVICOM at the Sub-National (State and Local Government) Level and to enact SERVICOM Bill and also develop SERVICOM Policy In those areas which are Nasarawa, Kastina, Bauchi, Ekiti, Imo, and Delta State.

She added that the way forward of the OGP to accomplish full commitment is a total buy-in by key public sector bureaucrats, high synergy with development Agencies and partners and implementation of the revised Standards in Service Charter by MDAs.

In her  words, ‘’ SERVICOM as a cadre in MDAs will positively give MSUs staff the  Zeal to embrace and drive the initiative effectively, and also the enactment of legislative instrument to back the improved Service Delivery Initiative (ISDI),  as well as massive citizens/customers awareness campaign to demand for quality service delivery’’ she added.

While speaking on the Improved Service Delivery-Commitment 15 and 16 and also the role of MDAs as Pilots, the National Coordinator pointed out some strategies in which the (Federal Department of Agriculture extension services department) and the National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASC) would be  working as critical partners which includes Advocacy for total commitment and buy-in by Permanent-Secretaries, Department Heads and Director-General of the National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASC) and key partners/stakeholders on implementation of improved Service delivery commitment through the pilot projects

The coordinator called on, MDAs/CEOs in collaboration with SERVICOM Office to put systems/mechanisms in place to ensure implementation of service standards within the delivery period of OGP NAPII, and that they should endeavour to spearhead, own and support their staff sensitization for the project and awareness campaign for their service takers.

Akajemeli said that, improving Service Delivery for citizens/customers’ satisfaction, is hinged on implementing the outlined SERVICOM Strategies with MDAs that would foster Openness, Transparency, Accountability and co-creation in Services delivered within the time frame which would in-turn translate to good governance.

In his welcome address the Director General National Agricultural Seed Council (NASC) Dr. Philip Olusegun Ojo, who was represented by Dr. Ishiak Khalid, Director Seed certification and quality control stated that NASC is lucky to be numbered as one of the Agencies to run the process of Open Government Partnership (OGP), initiatives of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Moreover, he also said that the National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASC) technical department is working assiduously to establish and ensure that Nigerian citizens get yielding seedlings and are not short-aged.

According to him ‘’ it is not our business to delay customers business’’ and he gave the councils full commitment and buy-in to support SERVICOM in the drive to attain improvements in Service delivery  initiatives of Mr President through the OGP process.
